Use case: illustration-story. Create one new original vertical 2:3 color woodblock-style print for the series "La douceur des jours". Image 1 is ONLY a reference for the person's identity, clothing period, human gesture and essential objects. Do not trace its detailed engraved lines or copy its huge figure scale. Image 2 is Kawase Hasui's Arashiyama in Spring, a stylistic reference ONLY for printed color planes, economical contours, Japanese color harmony and peaceful air; do not copy its scenery, signature, lettering or composition. Fundamentally rebuild the drawing as a feasible modest Japanese shin-hanga print at approximately 24 x 36 cm. Imagine a key block and a modest budget of about 6 color separations, several reused across the scene. This is our chosen experimental constraint, not a historical claim about all Hasui prints. Flat restrained ink areas, clear cut edges, very few internal contour lines, 8–12 expressive folds rather than dozens. Spacious unworked air or water occupying about one third of the image. One broad brush-applied bokashi at most, confined to sky or water. Faces and hands use warm paper plus sparse brown key lines, at most one flat warm shadow; no volumetric gradients. Fine subtle pigment absorption, no heavy artificial antique distress. Blue-green asagi, subdued ai indigo, muted ochre, gray, brown-black, a small dusty benigara or pale sakura accent; Japanese harmony with low chromatic contrast. No black comic-book outline everywhere, no cross-hatching, no cinematic glow, no golden sunset spectacle, no glossy paint, no pulp magazine realism, no art nouveau ornamental frame. The emotional center is ordinary human kindness: candid gentle eyes, relaxed brows, tender attention, unforced mature expression. Preserve individual age and distinctive face rather than turning everyone into the same youthful smiling person. Landscape and weather quietly accompany the person. Approximately 40–55% image height for the principal figure so the face remains readable yet breathes in its surroundings. Modest robe detail with rhythm from a few seam lines and broad printed shapes. Anatomically coherent hands and limbs; no floating objects. No visible text, stamps, signatures or border labels. Full completed opaque image. Scene: Sosei, mature bald Japanese Buddhist monk with round cheeks and crow's feet, crouched seated on the wooden edge of a veranda. He raises a small branch of cherry blossoms beside/above his head in one hand, the other gathers his robe. A spontaneous small warm smile, kind mischievous joy, no wide cartoon grin. Small cup and folded papers nearby. Pale spring afternoon, one spare flowering branch entering from upper left, open pale blue-green garden with much breathing space. Quiet ochre robe and gray-blue monastic sash. Show his humanity with tiny face lines, not sculpted cheeks.
